About Me
Hi! My name is Jennifer Hernandez, and I am pursuing my degree in Music Education at Baylor University. Currently I am a student teaching at Forest Trail Elementary and Hill Country Middle School in Eanes ISD.
I grew up in Kingwood, TX and began playing the Violin in sixth grade and fell in love with choir in ninth grade. My passion for music started with my elementary music teacher, Ms. Paul at Hidden Hollow Elementary School in Humble ISD. She constantly challenged me and pushed me to grow as a musician. She is the reason I decided to pursue a degree in Music Education. There is something so special about the impact a teacher has in a student's life and I want to be that for someone one day. During my time at Baylor I participated in Concert Choir, Bella Voce, and Campus Orchestra. I have served as an All-State Choir Camp Counselor, assisted in coordinating and teaching for Baylor's Women's Choir Festival, and was a Teaching Assistant at Park Hill Elementary School (Kim Dougherty) for Second and Fifth Grade. Outside of the school day, I interned at Youth Chorus of Central Texas (YCCT) and was a volunteer for Oso Musical, a Baylor program that serves students with exceptionalities. These experiences have shaped my teaching journey and have allowed me to grow as a music educator. As I begin my own career, I hope to create a classroom where students feel valued, respected, and have a place to grow musically and individually.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy hiking, spending time at coffee shops, and walking my dogs. I now live in Austin, TX with my family.
I am thrilled to see what my future holds! :)
